Remixing Resilience
From growing up as a 1st generation Haitian-American in a single-parent household with 9 siblings; to being expelled at 8 years old; to losing his father at 13; to being diagnosed as temporarily handicapped at age 27; the limitations Kemy’s faced taught him a about being resilient and kind when facing harsh adversities.
He used those lessons to earn $400,000+ in college scholarships to complete two masters degrees by age 26. He then led a 22,000 mile Kindness Scooter Tour across North America while running a nonprofit that helped 25,000+ youth to increase kindness in their schools.
Kemy shares resilience lessons from those difficult life circumstances to help students turn their pain into power as well. To use their limitations as invitations for reframing their stories. Their obstacles as opportunities to improve well-being. Their negative emotions as fuel for forgiveness.
